ISIS, Apocalypse, Armageddon, and the "End Times": Why Judeochrislam Is The Evil That Could Kill Us All

It's been a while what with all that's been going on in my life, but here are a few thoughts on ISIS, religion, and the "end times":

To those people who said, and to those who continue to say, that recognizing that ISIS isn't the same creature that we've dealt with in Al Qaeda is saber rattling or warmongering, what do you think after all of these execution videos? Still think that? I hope not.

Here's another good piece that helps understand the language behind ISIS's actions. That's key to fully comprehending their intentions.

But let's also be frank about what this - radical Islam - really is: It's merely one face of the violence inherent in religion. Christians use others to do their dirty work for them. Jews will do their own, as they're doing in Gaza. ISIS is the best-known, most-radical faction of Islam we've seen so far.

There's a movement afoot to reconcile Roman Catholicism with Eastern Orthodoxy. There are synthetic amalgamations of Judaism and Protestantism. All of these "Abrahamic" religions, when you're on the outside looking in, are far more alike than unalike. I could easily see the day when they all pitch in together and try to bring about the apocalypse or Armageddon or whatever.

If we kick the stool out from under Islam, whatever's left of it will try to find syncretism with the other two branches of Judeochrislam, and for everyone else, that's when the game is going to get nasty, if it hasn't already reached that point prior to that moment. Ultimately, they all want to bring about the "end times" so that whichever savior or combination of savior and prophet can come take them to...The Great Walmart in the Sky, or whatever.

It's time to stop viewing these religions as separate. It's time we come to terms with the fact that they're merely branches of the same core belief, and that the only things they really disagree on are pretty minor.

That's going to be an Oh, Shit! day for the rest of us, especially if any faction among them hates whatever you or I might be that offends them.

We might want to start thinking about that day because who, even a year ago, saw ISIS coming?

The Tip of the Shitberg

The Israelis are certainly part of the problem, but they're the tip of the shitberg. The larger, unseen bulk of the turd is the great assembly of brainwashed, propagandized deluded ones - like I and others were in the past because of our collective guilt over the historical plight of the Jews - who serve as Israel's apologists.

Israel has already done the heavy lifting to get others to do their work for them. Now, they use dog whistles to fire up the apologists into a sound-deadening wall of deaf ears who can't step back away from the trees long enough to see that there's a forest.

"I agree with you, killing children is a horrible thing, but when ________ fires rockets into our population, what are we to do?"

Sound familiar? It's one of their propagandist talking points. And they can fill in the blank with whatever group it is that opposes them.

There's plenty of blame to go around on both sides, but tracing the problem's origins back should provide clarity on who's doing what to whom...but for those who refuse to admit it, even the truth won't change their minds.

This tiny knot of religious ignorance is going to bring the world to World War III, and may be the only thing the Book of Lies might ever got right.

The US Constitution, the Founding Fathers, Homosexuality, and Religion

Homosexuality is as old as mankind, or even older. Religion is not.

The Founding Fathers, well-educated and well-travelled men, would have been very aware of homosexuality, but yet they make no mention of banning or outlawing it in the Constitution.

But the Constitution does say, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;" thereby limiting the power of religion by 'making no law respecting establishment of it' (my paraphrase).

The point is that the Founding Fathers were so unconcerned with homosexuality that they didn't even mention it, but they were so worried about theocracy that they placed a caveat in the First Amendment.

I'd say that pretty well delineates where the Founding Fathers' concerns were.

Response to A.C. Grayling - What's Next For Atheism?

The Atheist Alliance International video featuring A.C. Grayling is found here.

I don't understand why there has to be a 'next' thing for Atheism. Are we proselytizing?

One of the things I find comforting about my Atheism is its constancy, its adamant, unyielding strength. I see no need for a 'next'. Let the religious find a 'next', since they have to constantly change their message to appeal to new believers. If they had constancy, which they don't, they wouldn't need to proselytize.

I wish more thought about atheism as I do. But I want people to get there on their own, just as I did.

After a childhood as a Jehovah's Witness, I spent my later teen years searching for Jesus. I found him. He was a man, I'm certain of that. But so was Jim Jones, David Koresh, Buddha, Muhammad, the Bagwan Shree Rajneesh, and Warren Jeffs.

My unwavering belief in atheism is grounded in my search, my journey of self, that requires you to look long and hard inside yourself to discover whether you really believe what you claim to believe, or whether you believe what someone you admire believes simply because they believe it and you admire them.

I came to this juncture in my life by many hard, lonely roads. That's how I want others to come to it, too. Once found this way, it's a faith immovable.

For America, it's 'Make Stuff or Die'

I'm not really a fan of Apple, but I do understand why their products are manufactured and assembled in China. We, as a nation, have allowed religion to trump science in our nation's schools. God has become more important than advancing the human condition. As long as we allow that to continue, we will always ride backseat to China.

Going back to the mid-80s, I've watched the US become a services-based economy. Services feed the need for domestic consumers, but largely aren't exportable - diners from Beijing, Tokyo, and Munich aren't coming to Wichita or Macon or Sioux Falls to eat dinner. They're not coming from Sao Paolo to get a tan in Ithaca. We don't export enough services to bring in foreign dollars.

Maybe the problem is that we're too busy entertaining ourselves, or perhaps distracting ourselves, to focus even momentarily on the issues that are tanking our nation. Even if we manage to pull out of the current economic morass, our economy will remain fragile until we begin to build and export. A nation's economy depends not on domestic consumption of goods and services but rather on how much money it can earn from other nations.

Take this analogy:  Suppose you have 4 teams of 3 people each. Each person has $10, so each team has $30 available to it. Let's say that Team A's people, Members 1, 2, and 3, each have to eat, but Team A doesn't produce food, it provides services, but only to one another, not to other teams. So they have to go to Team B, which produces food, and buy their groceries. Assume that those groceries cost 1/3 of Team A's funds, so it ran them $10. Now Team A only has $20 while Team B now has $40. Now imagine that Team A is the United States and Team B is China. See where this is headed?

Pretty soon, the Team (nation) that has the most PRODUCTS that other Teams (nations) need has the most money. (Yes, you can export some services, but it's much easier for another nation to step in and underbid you, taking your clients). Remember who we've been borrowing money from? China. Which makes things. We provides services, they provide THINGS.

We need to rebuild our heavy manufacturing base; ships, planes, heavy mining and earth moving equipment, trucks, cars...THINGS! Some economists have been warning us since the early-80s that what has happened would happen. Obviously they were right. And we're still not doing anything about it. In fact, we're digging a deeper hole by propping up the house of cards that collapsed, the financial sector, causing the Great Recession.

Our great hope just might be green technology, but if we're going to export better, more efficient, cheaper products than other nations, we MUST get the ball rolling. We MUST focus on manufacturing exportable, durable goods. We MUST!

Failing that, the future doesn't look so bright.
